ViVi (Hangul: 비비; Japanese: ビビ, Bibi) is the fifth member of the girl group LOONA.

She is the oldest in LOONA, also making her the oldest in LOONA 1/3, and was revealed on February 14, 2017. Although ViVi was introduced in February, she didn't release her pre-debut single album till April. Her solo single album ViVi was released on April 17, 2017.

In the group, she’s represented by a deer and the color light pink. In LOONA 1/3, she is associated with the location Hong Kong, her hometown.

Names[]

Born Wong Kahei (黃珈熙), her name is pronounced Hwang Ga-hee (황가희) in Korean and Huáng Jiāxī in Mandarin. However, HaSeul, along with the other LOONA 1/3 members, gave her a Korean name: Hwang A-ra (Hanja: 黃雅蓏; Hangul: 황아라) during the LOONA 1/3 one year anniversary V LIVE.[12]

Nicknames[]

  • ViVi's stage name is based on her modeling name, Viian Wong.
  • One of her other possible stage names was Billion.
  • ViVi was the first member to go by a stage name in both LOONA and LOONA 1/3.
    • She is the only member in LOONA 1/3 to use a stage name.
  • Nickname she wants Orbits to call her: "Gwiyeomi"[13]

  • Olivia Hye imagined that if Vivi were her classmate, she would be a diligent early-riser that goes to school early and reads a lot.
  • JinSoul, Choerry and YeoJin thinks Vivi is like a sloth, not just because she is a slow talker, but she isn't quick-witted enough to react in variety shows because it takes her a long time to think of a reply. She is a little bit better when the interviews are in Mandarin or Cantonese, her native tongues. This is also why she prefers to listen to others. (Frequency of The Moon #30)
  • She can be very persistent and thorough, especially learning about subtle nuances of Korean adjectives, especially when they have very similar meanings, but with subtle differences. (Frequency of The Moon #41)
  • Despite being a sloth in the way she talks, she is very adventurous. She likes travelling, and likes outdoor pursuits like travelling, hiking and rock climbing. (Frequency of The Moon #45)
  • She has been increasingly being nicknamed Grandma, as she is the oldest and slowest member in terms of speech, and given she cannot venture outside much, she has more interests that involves staying indoors.
  • She is extremely innocent and trusting, even more so than Chuu, so HyunJin and Choerry had to teach her to yell and call for police when she is compromised back when her Korean wasn't fluent.

  • According to Kim Lip, ViVi gives good advice (as a result of being the oldest in LOONA) and cheers others up when they come to her to vent. However, she doesn't like to be open about her problems.[15]

Relationships[]

  • HaSeul helps ViVi learn Korean the most (out of all of LOONA's members). In turn, ViVi sometimes covers her mistakes when speaking in English, HaSeul may forget some words, even though she lived in Colorado for a year. ViVi became in charge of English when HaSeul was in hiatus.
  • In turn, YeoJin often covers Vivi's mistakes when speaking in Korean, especially when HaSeul was in hiatus. HyunJin also taught her: "Somebody, Call The Police Right Now" in casual speech to help her escape from dodgy scammers.
  • She's friends with Dreamcatcher's Handong.[20]
  • ViVi's bicycle-mates are Kim Lip and Olivia Hye.[21]

Pre-debut life[]

  • She was a model under the name of Viian Wong.
  • She sang a song by Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai for one of her auditions, but passed with the song "Choco Chip Cookies" by Gu Hara.[23]
  • She is the second female KPop member since Elkie, former member of CLC, to be from Hong Kong. She is the only member (including Jackson of GOT7 and Lucas of NCT/WayV) to not have solo TV appearances in China.
  • The first time she sang to others was at her cram school.[13]
  • Her family used to raise fish.[16]
  • As a trainee, she wouldn't talk much, as she still couldn't initially speak in Korean.[16]
    • She was also the only foreign trainee. However, in the times that she spoke Korean, she would talk with YeoJin, as she used body language and English phrases.
    • As she began preparing for LOONA 1/3's debut, she started speaking more.
    • ViVi: "On day 1, I kinda got in trouble. I'm not sure actually, it just felt like that. All the trainees were together and were just listening and being talked to for like two hours. I was thinking, 'Are we in trouble? Is this serious? Should I just stay still?'"

Abilities[]

  • ViVi practices her Korean a lot.
  • She struggled with understanding casual speech, as every member speak in honorific language to her.
  • She used to speak in past tense a lot, until late 2020.
  • According to Yves, she is good at comforting others.
  • Vivi cooks the noodles the opposite way to Korean members. In Hong Kong style, you boil the noodles then change the water for the broth, or get rid of the water altogether and eat the noodle without soup. In Korean style, you boil the water, then the noodles without changing the water, then add condiments to season the broth.
  • She can cook egg and tomatoes and stir-fried vegetables well. She can also make good pre-made dumplings, but not making them from scratch.
  • Unlike other members, she isn't scared of being in a state of sleep paralysis.
  • Her arms are very flexible. She can put her arms from being behind her shoulders to in front of her neck while keeping her hands interlocked.
  • She is good at catching food with her mouth.

Dislikes[]

  • Like Yves, she is trypophobic. It was discovered by HaSeul in LOONA TV #104 when she bought a weird toy.
  • Like Kim Lip, she is also very neat, so while HaSeul teaches her Korean, Vivi and 2Jin basically clean up after her or remind her to do so.
  • Late nights. Her tone of voice becomes sullen near midnight, something Vivi doesn't notice herself, not until 2021 when she started editing her own vlog.
  • She dislikes beondegi.[13]
  • She doesn't like to drink beer as it makes her face turn red.[29]
