[Soft Error] is the third mini album by South Korean singer Yves. It was released on August 7, 2025, alongside the title track “Soap”, featuring PinkPantheress and a sample of Rebecca Black’s “Sugar Water Cyanide”. It was preceded by the release of the single “White cat” on July 24, 2025.
A deluxe version of the album, titled [Soft Error : X] came out on October 15, 2025. It features a new track “Ex Machina”, which first debuted at the Taipei stop of the YVES 2025 COSMIC CRISPY TOUR IN ASIA & AUSTRALIA.
Description
Standard
Yves’ third EP, [Soft Error], represents another bold leap forward.[note 1] After going through emotional fractures, Yves faces the world with a changed sense of self—but the world doesn’t catch up. In a misaligned reality, she grows quieter. Her emotions settle, then solidify. [Soft Error] captures subtle glitches in the emotional system—intentional pauses, quiet distance, unexpressed truths. Yves no longer feels the need to explain. She simply exists, as she is. And that’s enough.[2]
Deluxe
"Soft Error: X is an album that contains an unresolved emotion and an unfinished question.
If the preceding Soft Error was the first moment that an "error of emotion" was first detected, Soft Error: X is the process of peering into that error without stopping, without defining, quietly.[4]
Soft Error : X

Controversies
Boycott
Plagiarism accusations
On July 24, 2025, user @feetliketwins posted a video comparing Yves’ “White cat” music video to a 2022 Blumarine advertisment campaign on the video-sharing app TikTok.[6] On July 29, another similarity was noticed by a fan, this time regarding the concept photo for “Soap”. They pointed out it looks like the pictorial for the September 2023 issue of VOGUE China.[7] Although there wasn’t any answer from PAIX PER MIL regarding the “White cat” music video accusations, they supposedly reached out to Engdus through a major fanbase account for Yves (@yvesupport on X) to clarify things about the “Soap” concept photo.[8] They explained that the visual direction for this comeback is being handled by an external team due to “an ongoing internal matter”[8] and that they haven’t reviewed the content in terms of possible similarities between other artworks.[8] As a result, PAIX PER MIL removed the concept photo from their official social media platforms, however the music video still remains up on YouTube.
