Flip That (Hangul: 플립 댓, sometimes stylized as Fl!p That) is the first summer special mini album from South Korean girl group LOONA. It was released on June 20, 2022 at 6PM KST.
The physical albums comes in 4 versions: A, B, C, and D.
This album is the final work released by all twelve members of LOONA prior to their split with BlockBerryCreative.
Description[]
A new journey for LOONA. Going against the grain of a tedious and cloudy daily routine, in the completely different space that unfolds after closing and reopening their eyes for a moment, the girls dream a sweet midsummer night’s dream.
One year after the release of [&], after impressing the public on Mnet’s competition program Queendom 2 as they showed off a broad spectrum with limitless charming transformations in each round, LOONA returns with a summer special mini-album targeting the season.
In light of the season, this summer special Flip That reflects a new, refreshing and dreamy color that’s uniquely LOONA, different from the fierce image they have shown so far. Further, the homage paid to the LOONAVERSE developed so far raises anticipation for the next series of lore that will be released afterwards.[1]

Mnet 경연 프로그램 ‘퀸덤 2’에서 매 경연 무대마다 한계 없는 매력 변신으로 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 선보이며 대중들에게 각인된 이달의 소녀가 [&] 발매 이후 약 1여년 만에 여름을 겨냥한 썸머 스페셜 미니 앨범으로 컴백한다.
이번 썸머 스페셜 미니 앨범 ‘Flip That’은 지금까지 보여 준 강렬한 이미지와는 다르게, 여름을 맞아 이달의 소녀만의 청량하고 몽환적인 새로운 색깔을 담아냈으며, 더불어 지금까지 전개해 온 LOONAverse에 대한 오마주는 이어 발매될 다음 세계관 시리즈에 대한 기대감을 높인다.[2]

Background and Release[]
On June 3, LOONA released a trailer for Flip That, a summer special mini album to be released on June 20.[3] On June 4, LOONA announced the release of their fifth extended play Flip That. The group shared the news alongside a teaser image posted on their Twitter account.[4]
From June 6 to June 7, individual teasers were posted including a concept photo for the version D of the album.[5] On June 8, the official tracklist was revealed with “Flip That” serving as the album's title track.[6]
On June 9, the first teaser for the music video was released.[7] From June 11 to June 16, another set of individual teasers was posted for the versions A, B, and C of the album.[5]
On June 17, a preview of the album containing snippets of the songs was released on their YouTube channel.[8] On June 18, the rest of concept photos were released, those being for version A, B, and C of the album.[5] On June 19, the second teaser for the music video was released.[9]

1. The Journey[]
The girls’ desire to escape repetitive routines collect into one energy.
2. Flip That[]
This UK-house-based track contains a bold aspiration to flip the world upside down. Within the unceasingly shifting rhythm and diverse composition, LOONA’s bright energy is delivered just as it is. The signature flute melody and refreshing synth sounds form a bright and exciting yet dreamy mood for the track. The addictive hook melody complete an unforgettable, LOONA-signature summer song.
3. Need U[]
A modern pop/R&B track that impresses with sentimental piano theme and repeating guitar patterns, the track contains the smoothly persuasive vocals that LOONA can show off. A calmly progressing chorus melody and rhythmical track express a heartfelt gratitude to a precious presence that always lends strength even during a loop of dark days, and imparts a message of “I will always be waiting” for those whom one is thankful for.
4. POSE[]
In the final competition of Queendom 2, LOONA shows off a mischievous side that they’ve never shown before. Atop a conceptual beat and addictive bass line, LOONA’s kitschy rap and melody are poured over. When LOONA appears to overturn the entire game, everybody lights, camera, action, pose!
5. Pale Blue Dot[]
A dance-pop track that projects the “Pale Blue Dot”, the photo of Earth taken by Voyager 1, onto human life. It expresses the thought that the Earth is no more than an impossibly humble and small dot in an immense universe, and so we should shed the many worries and concerns that burden us; and it reflects the value that, as small and tiny a planet as this may be, still seeks to be true to the present, to pursue love and joy, and to live a meaningful life.
6. Playback[]
A medium-tempo pop track that blends a message that the members wish to tell the fans and a sentimental melody line for cozy and lovely charms: the lyrics contain the memories of enjoying sitting around together under the evening sunset, and the scenery of those who picture new memories that are still to be made.[11]

- “Flip That” is the first LOONA album to surpass 100,000 sales in the first week of its release.[13]
