EKKO Music Rights is a music rights company founded in 2017.
EKKO is powered by Culture Technology Group Asia (CTGA Co Ltd), sister company of SM Entertainment.[1]
"EKKO is the result of a long-standing idea from Korean leading music business executive Lee Soo Man who is also the Founder and Chairman of successful music entertainment firm, SM Entertainment Co."[1]
Their headquarter is located in Seoul (South Korea) and they also have offices in Stockholm (Sweden) and Los Angeles (USA) and Japan.
Involvement with LOONA[]
LOONA is the first non-SM artist/group Lee Soo Man has produced for. He was impressed by LOONA's dance cover of "Cherry Bomb" (song by NCT 127, a SM Entertainment boygroup). According to Yves, "While working on his global project, [Lee Soo Man] found out about us. After seeing our cover of Cherry Bomb, he saw potential in us and gladly participated as a producer, for which we are grateful for."[2]
- [#] (released in February 2020): Lee Soo Man worked as "Music Producer" on this mini-album. Every track from the # extended play (7 tracks in total) was produced by at least one producer from EKKO Music Rights.
- [12:00] (released in October 2020): the second mini album from LOONA on which he worked as Music Producer. On this EP, 5 of the 8 tracks were produced by EKKO producers (i.e. "12:00", "Why Not?", "Fall Again", "Hide & Seek" and "OOPS!").[3]
Outside of Lee Soo Man's involvement:
- [&] (released in June 2021): Ellen Berg & Cazzi Opeia (as producing duo "Sunshine") composed "Be Honest". It would be Ellen Berg's second song for LOONA after "Why Not?"
- EKKO songwriter Le'mon produced a song ("Perfect Love") for LOONA on their first EP [+ +] released in August 2018, but she did it within music production company Joombas.
