“Algorithm” (Hangul: 알고리즘) is the second and title track from HeeJin’s first mini album <K>.

Title track ‘Algorithm’ is a break-up song about remembrance after love that has ended, just like the unwanted feed items that pop up that we talk about nowadays. It reconstructs the sound of artists like Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Cyndi Lauper who led Western pop in the 80s, and maximizes the dynamic texture of K-pop style to immediately capture the listener’s ears.

The music video, just as shown in the teaser, shows HeeJin living as a princess in the palace before getting into K-pop, escaping the palace, meeting friends and practicing choreography; in that way it depicts the image of an initiative-taking girl in an audition through the style of a K-drama. This tracks with the narrative of her escaping her old company to meet with friends and becoming one. ARTMS and ODD EYE CIRCLE members Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry all appear, and the surprise appearance of HaSeul at the end adds to the fun.

타이틀 곡 ‘Algorithm’은 요즘 흔히 이야기하듯 보고 싶지 않아도 뜨는 피드처럼 끝나버린 사랑 이후에도 자꾸 떠오르는 이별 노래이다. 80년대 서양의 팝을 주도했던 마돈나, 자넷 잭슨, 신디 로퍼 같은 아티스트들의 사운드를 복각하고 K-POP 스타일의 다이내믹한 텍스츄어를 극대화하여 듣는 이의 귀를 한 번에 사로잡는다.

특히 뮤직비디오는 티저에서 공개된 것처럼 궁에서 공주로 살고 있던 희진이 K-POP에 빠져 궁을 탈출해 친구들을 만나고 안무 연습을 하는 등 오디션에 참여하는 능동적인 소녀의 모습을 K-Drama 스타일로 보여준다. 이는 기존의 회사를 탈출해 친구들을 만나 하나가 된다는 서사와 맞닿아있다. ARTMS의 멤버이자 ODD EYE CIRCLE인 김립, 진솔, 최리가 등장하며 마지막엔 하슬이 깜짝 등장해 재미를 더한다.
